038 – You Can’t Buy Time

In this episode, the guys discuss how they manage time or their lack thereof. The choice of how you spend your time is arguably one of the most valuable benefits of FI. Can you improve how you use your time while on the journey? Here in the FI Garage, we’re all on the path to FI, however, we consider the RE part optional. #FIRE

  1. Wow, I feel like a VIP.
Glad someone likes the Wily Wolverine! I feel like Money Mechanic had already decided what he thought of it before he even tasted it….I have text messages to prove it!
Normally it’s fun to look ahead at the beer in the episode and drink it while listening to the show, but sadly I couldn’t share this one with you as I am taking 75 days off of the alcohol.
Interesting Camel Camel Camel add-on…if you know you’re going to be buying something eventually, looks like it could be a good tool to get it at a better price. Have any of you tried it yet on a purchase to see how it works?

  2. You are a VIP! Very few have actually entered the garage… I will confess to having an existing prejudice of WW. It came in a 6 pack and it was hanging out in the Garage fridge for over a week before the episode. Might have had a sneaky sample one. I’m never one to complain about free beer though! How is the 75 day challenge going? That sounds ambitious, yet rewarding. I haven’t really had a chance to try CCC yet because there’s nothing on our radar to purchase. I am purposefully abstaining from Amazon Prime days this week. Even if you don’t use it to track for a lower price, it’s interesting to click on it and have a look at the price history of what you’re buying. That could give you pause before buying if it’s artificially inflated. Cheers!

  3. Another great episode you guys!

Thank you Mechanic for the shoutout to my camelcamelcamel tutorial (3camels). I think you’re right that 3camels earns some money from Amazon for every sale. However, I’m not 100% sure of their arrangement as I believe Amazon has tried to restrict 3camels from accessing their price data in the past. In either case, it can be a useful tool if you’re looking to save some money or would like to know if you got a good deal on Christmas presents this year.

    Cheers,
